Kristy Blom
I am a compassionate and client-centered counsellor dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space where individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered. I tailor my approach to each client’s unique needs, drawing on their strengths to support meaningful growth and lasting change.
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with experience in addictions and complex mental health, I have supported children, youth, families, and first responders navigating challenges such as anxiety, stress, substance use, trauma, burnout, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. My nursing background has given me a deep understanding of high-stress environments and the impact of cumulative trauma, allowing me to effectively support first responders in processing critical incidents, managing burnout, and restoring a sense of balance and resilience.
I integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and play-based interventions. I also incorporate mindfulness and polyvagal-informed strategies to support nervous system regulation, helping clients develop grounding skills and a greater sense of safety and stability in their daily lives. My work is collaborative and flexible, allowing clients to move at their own pace while building practical skills and deeper self-understanding.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing from Douglas College.
I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for change. My goal is to help clients build resilience, develop effective coping strategies, and move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life
